We are missing something. Something is missing.
« on: January 06, 2008, 08:46:17 PM »
This I posted before, but did not get the result I meant for it.
So, here I try again.

In the church where I play every Sunday, (until now, they jus hired a professional choir director, and dont know if she will want me), there is a memeber who woudl recieve all the disability money from government, but she chooses to work and be independent. She does not have arms, nor legs. Just a piece of body and a head on top. E piece of skin on her shoulder is made a little ball and in that she is put a ring. With that she pushes bottons and scratches her self. Still, she is the church secretary, prints, types the bulletins, answers the phone and works full time. She sings beautifully and she is very well respected in the worship commetee. I would not dare to oppose to her, she can fire me if she wanted.
She does solo in the choir, and somebody helps her to get her choir robe.
The other night I thought I was going to do anice action and I invited her for coffee, to see if I could get closer to her and be friends.
Guess what!!!!!
She could not accept. her agenda was full.
Not only that, SHE HAS A HUSBAND, HANDSOME, INTELLIGENT, PROFESSIONAL, WHO SEEMS TO LOVE HER VERY DEEPLY!!!!!!
Hope that you get my point. We are missing something.
Or at least I am.

No, Lupita I am right there with you. I admire someone like that and believe that they must have strong faith and not raised by N's

Well, as I was saying another day, this lady needs a wheel chair for her body. We need a wheel chair for our soul. Our heart walks with a cane. A walker. Our soul does not stand by it slelf. We need somebody to hold it. And since we do not have anybdoy who is going to hold it full time 7/11 we are paralized.

But before we can pursue joy we must have some kind of an understanding what this joy is. What does a joyful person look like?

How do you distinguish a joyful person from a happy person, or a giddy person, or a foolish person? You can be happy your team won, you can be giddy about a great opportunity, you can act happy yet be under the influence of some substance. So, what is it that makes joy different from these things?

Joy is something that is unaffected by circumstances. It is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. Joy is deep. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope.

That's most likely what she has, a deep inner joy, that radiates.

It is possible to have that, N past or not, speaking from personal experience and acquaintances.

Thank you. That was my point. And to look at people who are in "disadvantage" and put it in quotations, in my case, it makes me more depressed.

And love from somebody is a pain killer as Ami said some time.

I wish like Hop said that the love I feel for my son I could feel it for my self.

Dont know how.

Circles circles.

Lea, why did you erase your post here? Why do we regret we said something?

Thank you, Lupita,

Sincerely value and appreciate the validation.

Regarding 'loving yourself' --- that is essential for emotional well being.

How to achieve that, I am not sure how to express that right now, however, I sincerely would like to think about it, and will hopefully be able to post.

Izzy, sorry, I did not. Lea's post was more concrete to my perception. But it is me. Not you.
Thank you for your answer.

Dear Lupita,

I have not deleted a post from this thread.

However, I did delete my one post on your political thread "Can we be like them", as i was unsure, as I don't do politics, and I don't live in the US.  In any case, I only posted 'we could be' in any case, on that thread.

Love, Leah

PS >  you have already asked this question --- the same question --- on your political thread "Can we be like them"  about being polite.

Hi Lup,

You did recognize the answer.
It is loving.
Yourself.

I believe there are ways to learn how.
Perhaps someone can suggest a book
that could walk you through it...

There must be exercises, meditations,
that can awaken it in you.

Lup,

I loved when you said we needed a wheelchair for our soul.  I think it is a very good image for me.  I am taking care of my soul much better these days and also taking care of my body and it does feel quite loving, for me anyway.

Thank you for this thread.

Thank you Axa.

When we need constant reassurance or aproval, it is discapacitating, it is becoming invalid, handicap.

The need of aprovan can really drive us crazy. To the point to make us handicap.

You need a bigger dog for everything, it is like needing somebody to take care of you.

Dear Lupita,
I think that God can send us people to help us,simply as a gift. I think that you should pray for s/one to come to you who will love you as you need to be loved. You might be so delighted and surprised.         Ami

I disagree, that is exactly what makes us invalid.
