Question for the board, including Lupita

If you won 10Million dollars in the lottery....

and they taxed you at 50%.....

you'd end up with 5Million dollars.

What are the first 5 things you'd do and how would you feel about being taxed that much?

Why not including Hopalong? Including Ami? Including Laura? Including ...............Lea...etc

I'd be a little unhappy about paying the tax but I'd do it so I could stay and spend the money in this country.

That's a really big hit.

1.  The lottery people here like to snap your picture and use you for publicity but.... I'd like to be a bit anonamous if I could make that happen.  

2.  I'd DO something for all my family members that would broaden their horizons or help them realize a dream... hopefull they wouldn't know it was me.  

The goal would be to help them, and myself, without making it possible for them/me to do nothing.

3.  I'd go on a trip with my 75yo friend.... Paris and Provance.  Maybe Niece but definately Paris.

4.  I'd pull 4 or 5 people out of a deep (not self inflicted hole) and enjoy watching them make better choices for themselves.  This would include education and help with childcare and basic needs.  

5.  I'd buy a new car for myself and donate the one I have..... finish window coverings in house, put in a heated pool and hire an instructor to teach the girls how to swim really really well.  My wardrobe would get plumped up, of course but it's not at all wonderful or well rounded right now so wouldn't feel guilty about that.

Because I wanted to hear what you have to say.

I'd donate a portion of the money, anonymously, to a family(s) that are struggling to make ends meet and feed their children.

The rest would go to my sister and her husband who desperately need a bigger house for their kids.

I am more selfish. My nephew is invalid. But there is equipment that would help him. I would use 80% to help my nephew and 20% to pay my son to go to Julliard. I would stay the same. Honestly.

There's not a lot I'd want to add either. 

You can't buy peace and serenity, or I would.

Suppose you could save your nephew and your son went to Julliard..... on your dime...... then what?

What if you still had 3.4 million left and it was making you 200K a year?

Then..... think about it.... what would you do?

Thank you for allowing me to make a tamtrum. That never happened to me in my entire life.

I have never been able to make tantrums.

And this is not a tantrum. Just an effort to have a voice.

Welll.. the thing about throwing a tantrum with nice people..... folks who care about you..... want you to feel better is.....

they forgive and cut you slack bc they have bad days too.

They just might snap at you sometime or not be in the mood to talk and you get the chance to return the favor.... see?

I'd keep $.5 million and invest it and quit my job to writel,
give $.5 million to friends and family who need help,
put $1 million in trust for my D (after paying off her student loans),
give $1 million to local poor families (for housing and education funds)
give $1 million to the strongest anti-global-warming effort I can find,
give $1 million to www.kiva.org.

It's nice to give spend money, isn't it, lol?

I really don't think I'd buy one piece of jewelry or anything obscenely expensive. 

Maybe one shopping trip to a boutiqe that has these really nice clothes..... dresses in particular.

Some great shoes.... I tend to buy not the best then wear them forever so.... that would be good.

I already give money to many charities.... but reading this post, following Hops'..... eek, shoes and dresses over global warming.

Maybe figure out some plans for helping children get some emotional intelligence information in their formative school years.... hey!  I just realized....changing's not been round lately.

I would give some away and invest most.  I have heard many stories of people blowing it.  I would invest and live off the interest.  Build the perfect house and have animals and NOT WORK.  I have worked non stop since I was 16.
