Free thinker now flowerpower
« on: March 02, 2008, 06:37:52 PM »
Hi all, I have changed my screen name to flowerpower from Free thinker.

I am hoping to post my story someday soon. Whenever I start to write it, I can't seem to make myself do it. It isn't very interesting. It consists of a paranoid, narcisstic mother who is a pathaological liar along with an extremely passive father. I will get to it soon.

In the meantime, I am happy to be here and have been welcomed very nicely by other members here despite my jumping in and posting without properly introducing myself or doing a personal story post yet.

Thank you for the kindness.  :)

So glad you are here.

Hi Flowerpower,
I have to disagree. Your  story would be interesting. It is a real life account of your situation and would be very ,very interesting. It is so hard to do, though,I know. Actually, I always want to erase mine b/c I hate it.
I just ignore it and leave it there, though(lol).              Love   Ami

Hello Flowerpower,

It's just such a beautiful choice for a name here. Gentle, fragrant, colorful and therapeutic on the one one side, and with strength and resilience on the other. I like it.

It's interesting that you say your story really isn't that interesting. Now you've got me curious  :D? You don't need to share it though if you don't feel to. It's certainly not mandatory, thankfully. You've already explained a lot about your parents, and therefore your childhood. Pretty sad stuff, by the sounds of it.

BTW, Have you been to the other parts of the site where Dr Grossman has quite a few articles.
I highly recommend 'Therapy on the High Seas: A Search For Self' (in memory of H) written by Dr Grossman.

It's both a fantastic and also an incredibly touching story about voicelessness.

Hi Flowerpower,
That sure brings back happy 60s memories!  :)

Just wanted to mention I've been here several years and have never written my story on the stories thread. It's not a requirement at all. It's just a place Dr. G. created so those who'd like to do that form of intro, may.

For me, it was too much to contemplate, writing the whole thing in one place.

Another way to get Members' Stories is to click on their name, and then scroll down to Last Posts of This Person, which actually has them all.

Re-welcome to you!

Hey Flower Power!  I was born in 59 So I am too young for Woodstock Too.  But I remember seeing posters with that on them as well.  Plus if we could EVER get rid of the snow maybe we would be able to  enjoy a few!

Hi Flowerpower,

Our life story unfolds in each posting, more or less, and is available to read as Hops has explained.

I am smiling here thinking of you with flowers in your hair, and beads and bells   :)

I was not in the woodstock scene either, however, I have seen the films and heard the music.

We have a music scene here each year, at Glastonbury.

FP,
I am riveted by the beginning to your story. You are a writer. Chosen anecdotes. And there it s.

I will read every addition with much interest.
Will save comments for critical mass. (Save that your Mom shows signs of mental illness in addition to personality disorder--and repressive sects in which bad things happen are familiar to me. I may be off, but radar's squawking!)

Thank you for the effort of sharing it; it means a lot.
