I heard this coming out of NM's mouth one day and realized how many times this was (and is) said to me...

Of course, most of the things she mentioned were things that she had "done for me...."

The funny thing is, most of the time the things she thinks are special are completely run of the mill. And the things she does to keep up with the Jones's are usually out of date. It is pitiable.

Actually, this is not painful - more like embarrassing. It is amazing how the N can turn the mundane into the spectacular. It is a talent... a frightening one.

I have my NM coming tomorrow. Maybe we can get them together and they can talk simultaneously about themselves? It would be an opera of sorts!
