Tell me about Cymbalta if you know....
« on: May 08, 2008, 09:50:25 AM »
Hey everyone:  I asked on another thread but got no response.  I think someone told me they were on Cymbalta and it was good for depression AND pain.  Does anyone have any experience with this drug??  When she put me on Lexapro I gained 25 pounds so I am hoping this does not lead to a gain!!

Hey, Overcomer - I have just been put on Cymbalta and I must say it has really improved my life. I had the usual side effects at first - nausea, stomach ache, some diarrhea - but those went away after 3 days. I have had terrific pain in my shoulder for months now, and even that's better. As my dr. explained, Cymbalta has a little touch of norepinephrin to counteract the flatness that usually results from Zoloft, Prazac, and the like. Gosh, the second day of taking it, I cleaned out part of the back yard, separated all my tomato plants and repotted them, did two loads of laundry .....   It was amazing.
I have not noticed any weight gain, but my mouth is dryer that it was on Zoloft. Hope you like it. I really feel better on it and my friends have noticed.

Thanks Leah and Kate:  I guess I did not notice the response, Leah.  Well this is the second full day of Cymbalta and I have to admit I am a bit woosy and a little nauseated.....I am hoping it helps as I am about to enter that black cloud, PMS stage.  Last month was the worst ever and I feel I am still reeling from it and here it is again.  I am a bit tired, I do not feel that energy that you speak of Kate.

Leah, I did a google search as well.  I got some of the same things you did.
The only person who even commented that I might gain weight from Lexapro was a guy who used to be a pharmacist and now owns a nutrition store......

I hate having to take these drugs but if I can control my spinning out of control once a month i am game!!!!

((((((( Kelly ))))))))  as you take gentle care of you

I don't know anything at all about these meds, can only 'ggogle' and signpost, however, I have just read down a few of the comments submitted by people who have posted regarding their personal experience of side effects etc.,

http://drugs.healthdiaries.com/cymbalta-side-effects.html#comments

Some have said that at first it was wonderful, then a few months afterward the true character was made known to them.

Maybe, it depends upon the dosage  .mg    prescribed?
