Proud of Myself
« on: May 22, 2008, 10:46:50 AM »
I went to the dentist today and I was able to accept that she is there to help me, not to condemn me or look for things I a doing 'wrong.' I have appointments to deal with some issues with my teeth that have bothered me and I am looking forward to getting them taken care of.

So wonderful to come online and see the title of your thread - Proud of Myself.  I'm proud of you too.

My brother has recently told me how the shame put on him as a child when he got a cavity, kept him from going to the dentist for YEARS until he developed significant trouble.  His wife helped him recognize that the shame was misplaced and helped him find a non-shaming dentist.

I am so glad that you are able to get the work done that you need.  Proud of you Gratitude!!!

Thanks guys!! This is such a big thing for me. I have a clear schedule until I leave here and promised myself I would do these things. It has been, once again, a long time between visits for me. Thank you so much for the support! I always know I can count on ym friends here.
