The Butterfly Effect~~~~
« on: June 11, 2008, 05:46:11 PM »
I watched that movie last night and want to seeTBE II tonight.

Nevertheless I was fascinated with the premise of this show: that one could go back several times to alter a given situation then watch how the future played out with each one.

Anyone here who saw it?
Aanyone here who, in fantasy, can think of an event that would make a huge change in your life , if you could alter what really happened?

I saw it, a year or so ago... and enjoyed it, Izzy.

But trying to think about altering the past... especially going back multiple times to change it...
well, I'm not smart enough to understand how all of that might roll downhill and the very thought of it makes me nauseous.

Kinda like trying to contemplate eternity.

Carolyn

P.S.  What is TBE II?

Hi Izzy-

I did see the film and the premise is so intruiging...I guess that the trick would be to know what I do now, and perhaps go back several times, accumulate knowledge and THEN go back for the final time?!?!?!...

Love,

Chnaging

CH: TBE II = The Butterfly Effect II
changing: Ah! The final time!
lighter: Something to change! I expect you didn't see the movie?

I found it so fascinating when choice after choice was just awful for one of the people involved. In the end he was wise enough to know what to do, and his choice was so unselfish, I felt a bit sad with it, but...

A present day version of "It's A Wonderful Life", but expanded and not about how the world would be if he had never been born.

I just cannot believe what a letdown The Butterfly Effect II was in comparison to the original.

Oh, that's too bad, Izzy. I know that's really disappointing when a sequel doesn't measure up.

Hey, I didn't know you'd posted here again. Was coming back to post something about npd and the notion that they have free choice, every step of the way.
Thought this was where you and I'd discussed some of those thoughts, but must have been another thread.

Goin' to look now.

Yes, Iz - I would've fought my mother just as hard as I did the rapist...
instead of succumbing to the lie that she "knew what was best for me".

Hi Phoenix-

I am glad that you are your own person, body , mind and soul,  and free from those who have sought your harm and subjugation, having fought them all off!!! We cannot go back as in TBE but we can go on...

Love and Best Wishes,

Changing

Indeed, Changing... that is all that is LEFT for us to do - what we haven't quite done yet - learning to do.

Thanks PR,
...and can you take 'baby steps; forward and see how that would change your (and others') outcome to the present day?

I am trying to think of an incident for myself, and it would also be one whereby I stood up for myself and told my father to never lay a hand on me again or I wouild kill him!
