"to speak of many things
Of ships and seas and sealing wax
Wheelchairs, cats and kings!"

So now after 39 years, to save my shoukders, I have been told that my 2 block trip to the Library is too much. I ought to have a battery operated chair! So a style like this is not too bad, but I don't want a dance hall attached nor a bathroom  nor an apartment to rent. It is still going to feel like a 'kiddy car' and I am going to feel less independant.

My mother was 39 years in the chair, but she never took part in the escapades that I did, nor even wheeled around the block.

I didn't see this coming!

I can still use this one to fold and put in the car, but all my downtown trips will be in my 'kiddy car'.

Now I will be searching the Internet for Canadian prices. $6,000.00 ?.....out of pocket.

Maybe this will expand your range, Iz... let you go other places...

and if I were you, I'd look for a removable basket to carry your purchases or finds and a loud BELL or HORN... so that you can scatter the people who might be in your way as you hurry down the street to your important engagement!  :D

It needs flames, I think or racing stripes...

I am sorry, Iz... haven't been around and missed this post.

Hey, I agree with Amber about the racing stripes... and a horn, yes... Ah OOOOh Gaaa!

And how about a removable parasol - no lace trim, no; leopard spots!

If this contraption can spare you from shoulder pain, go get 'em, girl!

Love,
Carolyn

Thanks gals,

So the pic of a used one is on the therapy post.

I'lll jhavve to see what I end up with before I plan the exterior decorating

I realize that I will not be buying another car. This one (X fingers) ought to last for the little I use it and a new-used car to new could rim me $10K-$35K, even a new chair is only $6K--that puts a different spin on the wheelchair cost.

Wait'll I get in the grocery store. I know where everything is and can now shop in 5-10 minutes.
ZooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooM to the Library

Still a kid at heart!

D gave me a horn once, but the dog liked it so much, it became his.

Flames, purple, blue and pink

Hi Iz,

I'm already looking forward to seeing the pictures after you 'customize' your kiddy car!

Love,

tt

Hi Deer-

I know that you have already checked things out thoroughly, but just in case-

In the US a motorized wheelchair can be subsidized when it is shown to be medically warranted by a prescription, etc. Do your national health plans, insurance plans, or local health agencies provide any contingency for this in your case? The cost seems so prohibitive! Can you transfer to a new plan for next year that includes provisions for a chair? The plans here for seniors vary widely...maybe you could consult a social worker regarding this? Some chair companies in the US also assist prospective owners in obtaining approvals for government/insurance subsidies of their purchases- does this exist in Canada as well?

Love and Best Wishes,

Changing

hi changing,
Thank you......

I have posted this before but not often, but when I was injured I filed a civil suit.

I won and I've never had to worry about money.
I still treat money with respect and want a legacy for my daughter.
i.e. I would not go out and buy a new car at my age. They depreciate so badly so what is a 2 door worth to her, who drives a 4 door.
I am thinking I will not spend a fortune when there is no need to.

My mother always said, ' "WE" (I guess that's all the rest of her famiily) were driving her to the poor house'! I believed there was a poor house and tall, tall building, grey clapboard, full of poor people.

I can afford the chair.

Love
