Movie~~~'Expired"~~~~ N-ism or not?
« on: August 13, 2008, 01:41:44 PM »
Hi all

I watched the movie’ Expired’. It is so like an N with an ‘shy, innocent’ girl, the emotional abuse(crazy-making) is SO easy to ’see’ and his sexual dysfunction, Porn (been there, experienced that.) End result he is "just an ‘as*hole." I'd say more than that~~

I wonder so many times if someone, who never experienced or knew about N-ism, like Claire could see the dysfunction in their relationship. Glad I watched it

Now check out two posted Comments about it---the viewing audience is another story in itself.
Izzy

Seldom do I rate a movie a 10. This movie was absolutely wonderful. At times hard to watch because it was so honest, it had humor, sadness, well rounded characters and was unique. Jason Patric was fantastic, the best performance I've ever seen from him. How he managed to get us to like him even though he was such an awful human being is a testament to his fine acting. I was not as impressed with Samantha Morton's performance but they work off each other so wonderfully and have such chemistry that you can't help but love them together and it works. Illeana Douglas was terrific too... you wonder why you don't see her working more.

Just loved it. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't like this movie other than they just don't get it.

Expired world-premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival to outstanding reviews. It is probably one of the best reviewed films at the festival. I saw the movie with a thousand plus audience - and all I can say: THIS IS A MUST SEE FILM! Expired is a turbulent love story (to say the very least) between LA parking enforcement officer Claire and LA parking enforcement officer Jay. Simply put, Samantha Morton is outstanding, so is Jason Patrick. With respect to Jason Patrick, most likely his best performance to date. I caught a review in USA today, which says:"Patric plays a violence-prone hot-head, who may be one of the nastiest dinner date since Joe Pesci in Goodfellas." I have to agree. He's something else. Not sure how - what Italian born filmmaker Cecilia Miniucchi did with her actors, the chemistry between the two leads makes everybody in the audience twitch on their seats. What direction!!

When it comes to the theaters, go check out this unlikely romance. You'll see that I wasn't exaggerating one bit.

Hey Iz,

It's not about this movie but for the last two days reading a book.. I kept thinking of you....

It's the book called Cell by Stephen King.....and I thought...oh no... Izzy talked about cell phone and how people are addicted and always have one....I don't know if you like Stephen King...but it was a good book...

I think that when Stephen King wrote it...he had the same thoughts and how everyone has a cell....he to-date does not own one.

I don't want to give the book away but it was written in a way...that what if..someone came up with a way that terrorism through Cell phones..and something went haywire....

There is gore in it...but all in all I liked the book..

Quote
Graphic artist Clay Riddell was in the heart of Boston on that Brilliant autumn afternoon when hell was unleashed before his eyes.  Without warning, carnage and chaos reigned, Ordinary people fell victim to the basest, most animalistic destruction..
And the apocalypse began with the ring of a cell phone....
The phone crazies (which they were called) thought the normal people were insane...
Don't want to give anymore away....if you want to check it out...

Love
Deb

OMG Deb,
IIIIIIIIIIIIII CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNN   BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE GGGGGGRRRRUUEESSSOOOMMMMMMMMEEEEEE

I have now come to view Stephen King as on the border of "has been". He never allowed his protaganist to survive. Each one dies an awful death, or was corrupted in some way. (Why read the end?)

I had forgotten that book. I feel that I have read it! Some time ago!

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh! I just checked and the book is on my shelf!
I was a S.King freak re many years...that is why I have some "up-to-date ' books but have asked for no more.... BUT......if someone is into gruesome, send Dean Kootnz~

Dean Kootnz.. however, is even scarier and his protanganists live to see another day. (One reads to the end to see!)

Wish I could write a horror story besides my life!
