I've said this elsewhere, but ... I believe each person belongs to themselves and to God, not to their parents. That's why so many people can come out of terrible childhoods and be amazing human beings. I guess it's also why so many people can come out of great childhoods and be horrible human beings.

I think I could have chosen to be either way --- an N or a non-N. Some of the issues I have are N-like (getting defensive when criticized, etc.) but I have the ability to see when I'm wrong. I'm abundantly thankful that somewhere along the way I chose to feel the guilt (even if it wasn't healthy and I've had to deal with it) than to stuff it away and become an N.
