We are not on a maths programme yet, Lighter, because of my son's problems we are still focusing on self care and social skills, along with sport, social activity and speech and language.  He likes to count so we do lots of that, we bake a lot so he weighs and measures, we make little woodwork things so he measures, counts out the number of nails we need and so on.  I basically decided to work on four levels with him - first, skills like washing, dressing and so on, then wider skills like cooking, growing vegetables, running the house etc, then speech and language and then the more formal educational stuff.  We're at levels two to three at the minute.  I've had a look at Education City which is very visual and I think he would like it, so that is on my list and we will probably give it a go later on this year.  I don't know if it's available in the US or what sort of age range it goes up to as I was looking a the sort of nursery level stuff, which is kind of where he is at the minute.  I'm sure you'll find plenty that you like the look of!  What age are 3rd and 5th grade?  It's all different here!

OK.

The library didn't have any of those books, CB, but I picked up 5 others.

Very interesting.

It was eye opening to see that some families choose to follow an entire program, no matter what level their children are working at, and some pick and choose, with kids working at different levels in math, reading, science etc.

So far, my kids would be all over the board, so purchasing entire programs wouldn't work.

Tupp.... my children will be 9 and 11 this year.

OK, Saskatchawan Curriculum http://www.education.gov.sk.ca/curr-rsces and Singapore Math would be my choices for homeschooling.

There's

so

many

choices out there: )

Thanks for all the input.
