Narcissistic mom and weight comments revisited
Redhead Erin:
Way to goooo, NLAS! Congrats on surviving the weekend!
I like you r approach. I understand why it works--if you say "OK mom," then ther eis nothing else to say. She feels like you heard her, and then shed's happy. TGhen she shuts up and you are happy. Its a win-win.,
I think I might try it.

I'm glad to hear that it wasn't the nightmare you thought it might be, at first!
You did real good... that observing - marking; noticing the situation and then letting the opportunity to "take the bait" go... yep; that's a way better survival skill than the ones we "made up" or were available to us as kids.
Sounds like you like your apartment, too! Overall, ain't life good sometimes?
Redhead Erin:
Bull hockey. You will bet better quality being real.

This one is not about weight, but falls into a similar category.
I have an acquaintance who is 90. Her complexion looks like 60. She takes good care of herself, always made up perfectly, cloths coordinated - all that. She worked until about a year ago. Her posture was near perfect until she had a case of 'Rogue Vertigo' a few months ago. This woman is a faithful church goer. So a few weeks ago, at a semi-social/bible study, another woman leaned across the person sitting between them and said, "______, You need to do something about that hump on your back. Your posture has gotten terrible." The woman in the middle and the 90 year old woman were taken aback and didn't know what to say. A week or two passes, the three of them are at another church function and the woman, in private, said almost the identical same thing to ______. This time _______ looked her square in the eye and said, you know I'm 90 years old. "I think I've earned the right to wear a hump on my back." It will be interesting to see what if anything comes of ______ defending herself. Question is, does anyone get any respect?

Redhead Erin:
I thought it was something like that. I make a living out of being "hot" even though I am nothing to write home about. Even when I was very heavy (like 60 pounds more than what I am now) I could pull off the attitude, which is what really sells you. I see it all the time--the prettiest girls do not make the most money, the ones with the best attitudes do!
