Hi Hops,
As the messenger of an unpopular truth, as you can imagine, I received many bullet holes over the years! One of the most important life lessons I learned early in my career was the divergence of truth and status. There was no status in understanding therapy as a very particular and healing kind of relationship. No--one had to be a doctor, an expert in the brand of therapy that one practiced! And practitioners were not going to give up their status, even for the sake of significantly, and sometimes dramatically, changing lives for the better. But given my particular brain, a brain that values truth far more than status, this was not a professional world that I could participate in.
It follows that for me, my work accomplishments are measured one person/patient/message board member at a time. I’m so glad the message board has been helpful to you and others. Your (and other’s) sharing this over the years has made a significant difference in my life.
As always,
Richard
