voicelessness in Egypt
« on: March 18, 2013, 11:15:57 AM »
Hi everybody,

Usually, I don't enter the political fray on this message board, but this document horrified me.  It is from from the Muslim Brotherhood's (the current ruling party) official English web site in Egypt.  Read the whole piece if you can stomach it:

Muslim Brotherhood Statement Denouncing UN Women Declaration for Violating Sharia Principles
Muslim Brotherhood slams proposed UN CSW document which contradicts principles of Islam and destroys family life and entire society.

All comments are, of course, welcome!

How frightening and tragic!  It just demonstrates to what lengths the Muslim Brotherhood party would go to preserve violence against and control of women.  With this kind of thinking and leadership, even if the document were ratified, I think women in that country would be hard pressed to see the precepts of that document enforced.  And if this is what the Brotherhood says publicly, can you imagine what kind of behavior women there are subjected to on a daily basis in reality?

I hope the UN will not back down and indeed step up its efforts to ensure this document is ratified.

Is this the same Muslim Brotherhood we just gave 20 F 16s and 200 M1 Abrams main battle tanks to? Not sold, gave.
The same MB that thinks Israel should be driven into the sea and its Coptic Christian minority should be forcibly converted or slaughtered?
