Dr. Phil Gets it Righter this time...
« on: January 05, 2014, 01:12:53 AM »
I remember a Dr. P show we discussed here in which he stuck to shallow understandings about Nism. This time, I really felt (in these two cases anyway) that he actually got through to more of the core things. And I liked it because I think he was right...or righter.

It's why (even when a victim of Nism should not feel obligated to forgive, not at all) I feel compassion is the only place that works. (Doesn't mean a victim of Nism needs to be the one providing that compassion. Just that...compassion for the human inside...is what works.)

Or what works when something can. When somebody's not too far gone in it.

FWIW, here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJFd_ExZ0ag

Would like to hear others' thoughts about this, if you like.

It would seem that psychologists and psychiatrists could get frustrated dealing with Narcissists. I'm going to try and watch the video all the way through.  I couldn't help but shake my head at that youngster comparing herself to Gandhi and the Kardashians.  At the same time, I wondered if the two guests on Dr. Phil were really NPD.  Both admitted to deep pain and were willing to accept help to deal with it.  Based on my own experiences with the NWomb-Donor, SHE was perfect and SHE didn't need ANY help!  In her view, YOU WERE CRAZY for NEEDING ANYTHING...it didn't matter that I was a LITTLE KID!  She didn't give a DAMN who she hurt as long as she got her own self-gratification.  When a mental health professional attempted to reason with her, she stormed out and REFUSED to go back.  If she were still alive, she probably wouldn't hesitate to cuss out Dr. Phil because he DARED DEFY her ROYAL self!

I'll give Dr. Phil an "A" for effort but I don't think he's REALLY confronted someone with NPD yet.  Those of us, here, KNOW what THAT is like, being survivors of NPD Womb-Donors and NPD Sperm-Donors.
