starting a new project
« on: January 28, 2014, 10:25:35 PM »
Hello All,

I am letting you all in on a big secret. I have decided that 2014 is my year to write my book. Simply put, the story is a woman struggling in her adult life, and during a dark time, she learns her difficulties come from her Mothers undiagnosed Nism.

Anyway, I will check in here periodically and let you know about my progress, but I will be largely absent because I have to put in the time to get the story on the page.  I hope it will be completed by summer and will have more news to share upon completion.

Please send your best wishes, mojo, prayers, meditation, chanting, angels, gnomes, lucky charms or whatever method you use to harness positive energy. I will need all the help I can get!

Thanks so much in advance for your support!   :D

The very best of luck with this, Ales, writing is such an amazing way to get this sort of thing out of your system, I think, and can be so helpful for the people who read it as well.

Really good luck with it, I am sending constructive typing/writing/word processing thoughts your way!  Let us know how you're getting on xx

Massive good luck to you on this project, Ales!

(Posted this before but it won't show up...)

I am glad writing the story is so healing -- makes great sense to me.

Thanks - the book is coming along very well. Slow. but coming along and the writing is flowing, even if its isolating and lonely.  Ive actually had to improve my social life just to help me get out more and stay focused when I do write. With too much time, I get less done. The cliche is true- when you want something done give it to the busy person!

Thanks all!

Im having a really rough time and have given up on the book and my other writing projects for the time being. I desperately need a new job and some superficial fun relationships that know nothing about me or my background so I can make some new roots for myself. Time to move on from the crap I have been dealing with.

I have tried to write about my N experiences at times and have hit the same block as you describe. I have started to think that it is too many triggers that block me. I think that I'm away from the N and so I should be able to write about it, but I get stuck. And then I find myself feeling lost, anxious, depressed and on edge again for no reason. At least I never saw the reason before, but now I wonder if it's the writing.

I hope you are ok anyway and that the tough time eases soon. Remember that by getting through all the crap,  we are stronger than we know. Take care :-)

Thanks Cadbury for your kind words of support. It is a rough time and I relate to the triggers in writing that block our thoughts. It was an everyday thing for me.

Oh, yeah

Hi, Cadbury.

What helped me with writing was "taking a page" from David Gerrold, a sci-fi author.  Anyone who got on his bad side was written as a villain in his stories and killed off.  I wrote a Star Trek story where I basically made the villains into "red shirts" and killed them off.  It seemed to help.

Back Off Bug-A-Loo!

Bones - that is great advice!

I did find that writing the story I could speak to the N, say things I wish I had the courage to say, cause trouble passively, be vindictive and have bad things happen to him and her (there are two in the book). Basically some things I wish I could do in real life (no, I dont mean the intention infliction of harm, but the speaking up and reporting people appropriately part, without the backlash) and that was very helpful. It was also educational, I could see alternate choices/actions I could have made and even speculate on the consequences of doing so. You are on to something with killing them off.....

I also gave the Ns a conscience and as soon as I did that, they became likable, so I took that out and they now seem more robotic and cruel...in other words, more realistic.
