Moon that sounds so wonderful!
Ah-wooooo! Howl at the moon for me!
I hope you travel safely and have a beautiful time.

Thanks for starting this thread. This is my favorite holiday.
It is so simple in my heart. For what am I grateful?

Today, even more. I got a new job, working for kind people in a startup holistic business that's poised to be a successful part of the green movement. It fits my notion of right livelihood and will draw on my creative and communications skills...all of which withered in my prior post. I am so grateful!

And grateful I have y'all to tell about it!

Hugs and Happy Thanksgiving to All,

Hops

Moon,
Have a wonderful visit with family and critters in the country.  I'm sure the stars will be much brighter out there.  Safe travels.

Hops,
So glad to hear of the new job.  Congrats!!  It sounds like a wonderful opportunity.

I am looking forward to having both my kids home for the first time since August.  It will be interesting to see the changes in my daughter after her first time away from home.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving.

Brigid

Moon - what a picturesque Thanksgiving setting.  Wish I were there too.

Hops - where have I been?

This is wonderful news.  I am so very happy for you oand want to hear more about it?  When does it start?  How did you get it?

Brigid - joy to you and your time with your daughters.

Write - keep writing things to be thankful for.  I'm going to do that too.  I decided not to take meds today and sometimes while I am reading I get whistful because things are not the way I wish, and because to get there is such a long road.  But you have reminded me to keep my eyes on the prize and stop looking back except to see where I've come from and how much progress I've made.  Thank you WRITE, you've turned my head.

Maybe we should do a Voicelessness holiday retreat next year?! I'm sure I'd be happier baking pumpkin pie and listening to coyotes ( the non-human kind ) with y'all  :)

Off to start my day- work first, that always goes well!

Thanks GS, there's a song ( from Scotland I think ) we can sing that:

Ev'ry road thro' life is a long, long road,
Fill'd with joys and sorrows too,
As you journey on how your heart will yearn
For the things most dear to you.
With wealth and love 'tis so,
But onward we must go.

Keep right on to the end of the road,
Keep right on to the end,
Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong,
Keep right on round the bend.
Tho' you're tired and weary still journey on,
Till you come to your happy abode,
Where all the love you've been dreaming of
Will be there at the end of the road.

Back later.....take care everyone, Happy Day!

Why wait for the holidays?

thanks WRITE, I'm going to make these lines my song:

Where all the love you've been dreaming of
Will be there at the end of the road.

I believe it and I plan to live it.

well no turkey for me yet!
Arrived at my ex's to find he hadn't started cooking, so I had a chat and helped get things in motion then left for a while- things will degenerate into a row if I stay the whole day.

He looked a bit annoyed with me, but I have stopped responding to that.

He said 'do you want some wine with dinner?' I said 'no, it gives me indigestion' he said 'no you'd be like one of those alcoholics on tv documentaries, one sip and you'll be found days later in a gutter somewhere'!

Er, right. Ok. See you later then....

Keep right on to the end of the road....

(Ewww, Write, what a nasty remark he made. Yikers. You have such APLOMB, woman!)

Thanks, GS! I'm very pleased about the job but worried about how I'll hold up physically (back pain). It all happened almost at once. I found out the disability would not be approved (by the university, since my funds were ending anyway...not by the insurer).

I had done some freelance work for a local businessperson who has a startup business for products I admire (materially and philosophically). Anyway, he mentioned to me at a recent meeting that he'd need to hire a 3rd employee since things are growing. I said, no, you need to hire me, and you'll get marketing writing and website work and design direction all at once! A week later I met with him and his wife and we had a great talk and he said, you're hired. (It's a big cut in pay and benefits from the university, but I am so glad to be out of there I don't care.) It'll be living verrrrrrrrrrrry simply to get by, but that's okay.

And he does know all about my back and is quite kind, I think. I don't think he's a "softie" but he said one of the most important things to him was to run his business according to his spiritual values. He actually said, my most important thing in business is that I want people to feel loved and not stressed.

(By contrast to several previous employers I've known, whose mantra appeared to be, work as hard as possible until you're one step from dead, and then work harder.) So I'm very grateful. We'll see how it all shakes out. There are always adjustments and I hope to be happy and flexible and I really really hope it's my until-retirement solution.

Had a nice time at the potluck, too. Mom decided she wanted to sleep all day so I took her gentleman friend (she cradle-robs, he's only 93) and we had a great time.  :)  He's sort of like an adopted relative, and actually a brilliant man. Lives in a time warp but it's fascinating to listen to him. (He quotes long verses in Latin and has half of Gilbert and Sullivan memorized.)

My paperwork lurks. But I'm not doing it tonight, I don't think. No good reason. badbadbadbadbad

love

So glad to hear about your work Hops.  Is it possible that as the company keeps growing that your pay package might as well?
I'll keep that in hopes for you.  That is what you need, it is what you deserve and it is what I encourage you to envision for yourself.
(I'm still believing in Dyer's "Intention")

I'm also believing for healing for your back.  I believe in miracles - for me and for you and anyone else who dares to believe.  It is nothing short of a miracle for me to find this place.  It has been such a boost.

I'm dreaming paperwork for you tomorrow.  Glad you are taking a break today. - your dear friend - Gaining Strength

Thanks much GS. He does plan on profit sharing if we get big, and I believe him. I also like being involved in a start-up. It's fun.

And I'll get in touch tomorrow if I still feel paralysed.

Gratefully,
