A wonderful week
« on: July 15, 2007, 10:11:48 PM »
Not too many of you have been here long enough to have followed my trials and tribulations of the last 3 1/2 years since I first found this board.  It has been a long and winding road, with many months of devastation, pain, sadness, and grief, followed by reflection, healing, and finding a way to move on with my life.

Last Tuesday, I finally found a job that I am very excited about.  It is the perfect situation for me and I'll be working with some wonderful people.  Thursday, my b/f and I left on the Harley, to spend a weekend away for my birthday.  Friday the 13th, I turned 57 years old and became engaged to the most wonderful guy I could ever find.  It was the most perfect proposal in the most perfect setting imaginable.

The best part came when I got home and told my daughter about the engagement and she was so happy and excited at the prospect of getting 3 more brothers and a sister and a really great step-dad added to our family.  My son is currently out of the country, but hopefully calling tomorrow so I can share the news with him.  Hopefully, he will be just as happy as his sister.

I wish for all of you who are sitting in the sad and lonely place where I have been--to keep the faith and know that life can once again be whole and complete and filled with great joy.

Cheers,

Brigid

You have helped me so much here and it is obvious from your strong and deep postings that you have found a stable ground. I think you are starting with both feet firmly planted and have nothing but great things ahead for you.

That Harley dude is a lucky guy ;) So are your kids.

Lots of love,
Beth

Dear Brigid,

I was just thinking of you!
As my last at-home-daughter left for band camp, there it was - an almost-empty-nest-attack.
Okay, so it's only for a week, and yet - with just my son left here at home, I felt that pang... at 16, soon she'll be off on her own missions... *sigh*...  :) :? :)   It was just a little spasm  :)

You have had quite the week! Congratulations on all counts... I am so very happy for you ((((((((((Brigid)))))))))).
Happy belated Birthday, very best wishes on the new job, and soooo many blessings on your upcoming wedding!
Wow! This is wonderful news. I could wear out the smileys, but I won't - lol.

I hope that your son calls and will be thrilled for you. I'm betting he will. I sure am!

Much love to you, Brigid... y'all will be in my continued prayers.

Hope

Beth, Hops, Ami and Hope,
Thank you for your good wishes--it really means a lot to me.

Lots of logistics to work out (that part is certainly easier when you're younger), but we'll get it sorted out.  I won't be certain of a date until I've had a chance to check on the availability of my T (I fortunately haven't needed those services for 1 1/2 years), who is also an Episcopal priest, and his church.  I wouldn't want anyone else to perform the ceremony.  Also, we have to be sensitive to our kids' schedules, since several are still in school and living out of state, and my very sweet future mil, who spends the winter elsewhere.

I'll keep you posted.

Love and hugs,
B.

PS to Hope--So good to see you around again BTW--The empty nest is definitely very hard in the beginning, but it does get better and you learn how to fill that space with other things.  You have your hubby, too, and hopefully he will help to fill in the empty space as well.  I have loved having my DD home for the summer, but occasionally miss my absolute freedom in the house and definitely don't miss the mess that girl can create.  You still have a couple of years to prepare, so enjoy every minute, no matter how obnoxious and snotty your D can get  :D (I believe it is God's way of preparing us for their leaving the nest).  I hope life is being good to you these days (I'm sorry if I've missed something you've posted about as I haven't been here too much of late).  I have missed reading your wonderful words of wisdom.

Good Morning Axa, Spy, Mo4 and Sela,
Thank you for the hugs and good wishes.  Sorry Spy, he was the only boy with 3 sisters.

I did get to have a long chat with my son last night (he is currently in Japan, but he sounded like he was next door--don't you love modern technology  :D).  He was very happy for me/us and told me that he thinks I am marrying a really good guy, who he sees as kind, gentle and someone you can depend on.  I could not ask for more than that.

Cheers,

B.

PS Sela, I love the banner.  I wish I could figure out how to do that. :?
