Double Wedding

Because I will be having computer withdrawal by three in the pm.

My niece, daughter of my eldest sister, was being married at a church on Bloor Street in Toronto. That street has many churches around Yonge Street intersection. I didn’t attend. My mother was still alive, but living in the hospital, in Barrie. She got herself a medical driver and van, gussied up and they took off for Toronto.

As they turned onto Bloor from Yonge my mother saw the people filling up the church so they parked and got her in fast as she was Grandmother of the Bride, and told everyone so.

Obviously she wouldn’t know a lot of the young folks who were friends of the bride and of the groom. She watched and waited for someone she recognized to come in but had been placed in such a manner that she was “somebody” and could view the entire ceremony from a seated position in her wheelchair.

At the end, a slew of pictures were taken and she was right up front there with the parents of each of the bridal couple but at this point, she wasn’t even recognizing them. That wasn't her granddaughter.............

She checked her invitation and was in the wrong church. She told her driver to get her over to this other church and made it just in time for E____’s wedding.

I think the funniest thing is that other couple will be wondering for the rest of their lives who this solemn old lady in a wheelchair is, who was up front and centre for their wedding and lovely photos of family and friends.

Hi Izzy-

That was a very good story! Can you imagine, every time that married couple looks at their wedding album?!?!? Sorry about the computer withdrawal tomorrow-I have a laptop with wireless service, so I can take mine anywhere if the battery is charged. If I misplace the card I am a wreck!!!

Hope you have a good night, and that the electrical work is completed ahead of schedule!

Love and Good Night,

Changing

This story is hilarious and reminds me of something I will do in later years.

Awhile ago I went to visit my daughter in Charleston, S. Carolina. I was traveling alone with my grandaughter who was three and my son who was two (another story unto itself) we had connecting flights in chicago and a two hour layover. The gate next to ours was going to Charlotte N. Carolina. My daughter's name is Charlotte. You guessed it, when they annonunce last call for boarding to Charlotte N. C. I rushed with two small children and boarded the plane. The only thing that saved me was someone was sitting in "our" seats so they had to double check my pass. Minutes before take off I exited the plane to await my real flight.

Oh Izzy-

I just thought of this (too late)- if there is a wedding reception at a fancy warm hotel nearby scheduled for say, 11:00 until 3:00, you might go there today ( while the electrical system in your building is being repaired ) looking for a niece, etc- once they got to know you, they wouldn't let you leave , but would adopt you instead- I certainly would! Free food, music, light and warmth!

Love,

Thank you lighter, alone. changing and Hops,

I'm glad you liked the little story about my mother. I thought it extremely funny and when she left in a hurry to go to the other church, no one had a chnace to get the truth, as in during the reception.

and Hops, I was thinking of the video of the laughing baby, when I did this. Thanks.

She's not my grandmother, I thought she was yours.

Love
Izzy

This was a great, classic story Izzy!  I loved it.  I bet the wedding couple each still believes she was some cousin's great aunt or something.
