I assume you mean Chinese new year?

It's the year of the rat.

Thanks Tay,

Thought came to me, and, at present I cannot go 'googling'

Cripes : wonder what on earth that signifies ?

Will be able to go find out later on, hopefully.

That reminds me, I had a dream about 'rats' once, but never knew what it meant, and shared about it in my workplace, the topic went all round the houses and ended up with us all in stitches of laughter.  But, no enlightenment on the meaning.

Did you know that their is Biblical Historical significance to numbers as well...with the year of 2008, hmmm let's see:

Here is a webpage and some info:  http://www.biblestudy.org/bibleref/meaning-of-numbers-in-bible/8.html

Spiritual Significance of Numbers  Print Page
Chapter Links
Meaning of the Number EIGHT (8)

In Hebrew the number eight is hnm# (Sh'moneh), from the root Nm# (Shah'meyn), "to make fat," "cover with fat," "to super-abound." As a participle it means "one who abounds in strength," etc. As a noun it is "superabundant fertility," "oil," etc. So that as a numeral it is the superabundant number. As seven was so called because the seventh day was the day of completion and rest, so eight, as the eighth day, was over and above this perfect completion, and was indeed the first of a new series

Dear Laura,

Thanks ever so much for the website link, which I will go and have read of, later on.

Yes, the numbers, and the colours too.

I love the number 5 which means Grace.

And if my memory serves me well, the colour for Grace is Purple   (which I love, in all varying shades and depths)

Yes, Leah, I do believe you are right...5 is the number of grace and purple, the color.

My spiritual mom's name is Nancy, which means "gracious" or "grace" and her fave color is purple.  That poor woman has had to almost EXHAUST her grace resources on me through the past couple years. :)

I was born in the year of the rat - '56. Be interested to see the chinese astrology significance... for fun. Supposedly my "lucky number" is 4 - but, threes and nines have always been more significant for me.

ANY new beginning is worth celebrating. I'm celebrating several - a new studio, new intention in my life, new feelings, new voice, new plans... my wish for everyone is that they find what truly makes them happy this year.

Dear Amber,

That's how it is for me too, some are only small new beginnings, just simple things, but together they may build up into something more substantial, for the good, for me, well, that's my sincere hope.

Looked at 'numbers' and did have a small book on the subject.  The number 3 is has been significant for me, and I love the number 5.

All the very best with your 'new' studio, Amber.

Just looked and it's good to be a Rat ... for those born this year 2008 in the year of the Rat ...

........"Being born a Rat is nothing to be ashamed of. In China, the Rat is respected and considered a courageous, enterprising person. It is deemed an honor to be born in the Year of the Rat and it is considered a privilege to be associated with a Rat. Rats know exactly where to find solutions and can take care of themselves and others without problems. They use their instinctive sense of observation to help others in times of need and are among the most fit of all the Animal signs to survive most any situation."

However, I am not a Rat ........ love Ratty in the book:  "Wind in the Willows" with Toad of Toad Hall.

PS >   In the book, Ratty is a resourceful serene fellow who loves to picnic and "mess about in his boat on the river all day" and coincidentally, his friends, including Toad of Toad hall, consider him a valued best friend!   Amazing, as up to now, never looked at the meanings of the Chinese years.

Truly fascinating what one can learn.

Life is Precious

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours.

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive Don't go for wealth; even that fades away Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright find the one that makes your heart smile.

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real.

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.

Always put yourself in the other's shoes If you feel that it hurts you, it will probably hurt the other person too.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along the way.

Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't get on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
