Dear tt,

So sorry you had to find such a mess when you got back home, but very glad the little guy is feeling better.

Not sure about milk with dogs, but I know it's one thing that does give cats diahhrea... so may be worth researching.

And about his separation anxiety... I know a lady who used to call her old answering machine (left with volume turned up) and talk to her pet via the message she recorded. Of course, he wasn't able to talk back that way...  :D

More hugs,
Carolyn

Thinking of you TT. Cheese sounds good for the dog, maybe whole wheat bread. I am glad that your Mom is better. The one I am concerned with is "You". How are you doing,TT,now that everyone (except maybe puppy seems better)?
I bet it is separation anxiety ,with your dog. My Poodle used to  bark at the bottom of the stairs when I was taking a bath, when she was too old to climb the stairs. She sounded so mournful and I was only upstairs, not on a trip ,as you were.
Love and hugs to you TT,   Ami

Hi TT, I am new and just fumbling around here on the board, but I wanted to add my best wishes for your mother's recovery.

Also, I hope your pup gets better. My 6 year old dog gets diarrhea when he gets really stressed. I have found adding some canned pumpkin to his food to be helpful. He loves it. Veterinary studies have found orange veggies to prevent bladder cancer in dogs as well so it isn't a bad idea to add to the food a few times a week anyway.

Sorry about all the stress TT. I am glad to hear things look up for your mother. They sure make em tough these days. My animals react the same way. I believe a bland diet of rice and gravy is best for an animal with an upset tummy, and if possible don't change their diet, although how that is possible if they don't eat rice everyday, I don't know. Dairy products are too fatty and keep the upset stomach emptying.

When the girls have that kind of tummy trouble I give them tea, rice, bananas and Ummmmm......  it's the brat diet, lol.

What does the A stand for?  Couldn't be apples..... I guess I skip the A and stick with the other things, lol.

Hope his tummy is better now anyways.

Hi everyone,

Spent three hours with Mom tonight.  I was overcome with sadness on  leaving her.  She has her good mind and she has her confused mind.  It's like the two hang out together, holding hands, for in the same five minutes she will tell me a story out of her confusion, mixed with something out of reality.  She isn't like this all the time though.  All things considered, she is doing well.

Thanks to everyone for the ideas for my little doggie.  He seems all well now.  FreeThinker, I put carrots in his food tonight.  He loved it.  Thanks.  I'll take all hints where dog food is concerned.

Hi Leah,

I'm glad you are enjoying Devine Conspiracy.  Willard is deep, and hammers his points home in a convincing and intelligent way.  Of all the Christian writers I've  read, he reminds me of Paul the most.  I didn't read Devine Conspiracy, but have read Renovation of the Heart.  I keep it handy for reference.

Dear TT,
It does sound really sad, as you interact with your M. It reminds me of the many sadnesses in life. Boy,TT, this world really hurts s/times, doesn't it? I have you and your mother in my prayers and thoughts, TT.          Love   Ami

Dearest Hops,

The poem.  I know it comes from a heart that understands.  Thank you for it.  I will cherish it.

How is your Mother?  Are you taking some evenings for yourself?  You must!

Hi OC,

Re:  Dallas Willard

I wouldn't say that Willard's books grab me like say a novel.  Willards writing is not a quick read for me at all.  At first, I wanted to criticize him, I think because he took me by surprise with the depth of what he writes and I had to pay attention more than with other writers.    He really wants to get points across and it seems like he has endless ways to get you there.

How was he as a speaker?

Thanks (((((TT)))))

Mom's going slowly downhill, but I predict nothing.
She has a mild respiratory infection now, and is being given antibiotics.
Hard to admit but the truth is I think it'd be more merciful to let the infection go.
She's miserable, and the paralysis is no better. A pneumonia might be a mercy.
I'm going to talk to her doctor about it, see what he thinks.
Seems like an ethical question and I want the right/good answer.

Thoughts welcome from anyone.
What would YOU want if you were 97 and lost the use of your arm and leg
and faced 24/7 bedridden care? Would you want to fight off an infection or let it run?

thank you,
Hops

Hi Hops,

What a tough question.  A hard thing to face regardless of which route you take.  I personally (for my own self) would say let me go.

My mom and I had a short discussion about this several years ago.  I asked her, Mama, if you died would you want to be brought back to life?  Without hesitation, she said, NO!  Then right away she said, but if it happens, I may change my mind.  She said that with humor.

I went to the rehab facility this afternoon to check on her.  She's having a rough day.  I fear that she is heading back into one of her Failure To Thrive episodes.  I'm going back later this evening to see how she is doing.
