Hahahahaha!  :D :D :D

Oh Moon!  I hadn't heard of those 4 food groups before!   Too funny.

So I guess you're not into soy milk smoothies and veggie with barley casseroles then?

Real, nutritionally packed, healthy food does take longer to prepare eh?  The instant, frozen and fast stuff is quicker and easier.  I'm doing my best to find some kind of balance.  I'm lucky too because my H will eat just about anything I prepare as long as there's lot's of it (he eats like 2 horses and burns it all off like one of those high-efficiency furnaces).  My metabolism is more like.......a pack rat.  (little rat with a sneaky smile icon here please).

Speaking of which, I found this under:  "Cooking with rats": (Wow!  There's a ratlist??)

I love the recipes quote, Sela

My hubby gave me a shirt one Valentine's Day:

Two cats sitting atop a fence, cuddling and watching the moon rise

One cat turns to the other and says, "If I had two dead rats, I'd give you one."

I guess this is either a pretty nasty image or downright sweet, depending on your POV...

LOH,

Think how romantic it would have been if it said "If I only had one dead rat I'd still give it to you."

Or how 'bout:

"I love you more than any big, juicy, stinky dead rat".

??? :D

(particularly if it's the male cat speaking......since we all know the way to their hearts is through their tum tums)..

Sela,
Well, once I stood on my head, took off my reading glasses, and then read the post, I was able to understand the rules (I am not necessarily agreeing to follow them, however  :?).

The only reason I am still upright and not laying peacefully in my bed--and I swear this is true--is because we had a graduation party for my D tonight and she and her friends are still outside making s'mores.  I personally am a big s'mores fan having been a girl scout myself and a brownie leader for my D, but the kids won't let me hang out with them to roast marshmellows.     I fear it may still be awhile before I will be able to go to bed.  I'm too old for this.  :(

Brigid, if the kids won't let you hang out and make your own s'mores,
then someone should bring one in for you.
Keeping all the s'mores from you is just too cruel.
Does your D have a cell phone with her?
You could call her from in the house and ask for s'mores please  .

Hee, hee, that's what I would do!

Mmmm, ribs.  Sounds tasty.
But you might need some rib-shaped tofu for our vegetarian and vegan friends.
My son's a vegan and he prefers asparagus  .  Yikes!

There's a new kind of candy bar that hit here recently:  A smore's candy bar.

It's not quite as good as the real smores.  You don't get that fresh burned taste of a black marshmellow.  It doesn't smell smoky, and it's just way to easy to get to it.  Part of the charm of real smores is all the effort you go to just to make one.

jac,

Quote
For the 4th of July, I am going to season some ribs and let them marinate for a week

You can do this without fear of the meat spoiling, or does the marinade keep that from happening?  Do you use beef or pork ribs?  I love ribs and am always looking for a new way to prepare them.

PP,
Yes, I could have placed a call to the guest of honor, but the funny thing is that when I have spent all day (actually 2-3 days) preparing food, I lose my appetite.  Everyone said the food was wonderful, but I hardly ate any of it.  I was so exhausted from all the preparation, all I wanted to do was drink.

Happy Father's Day to any of you dads hovering around this site.

Too good to miss! Anyone enjoy Funkadelic’s music? The album ‘One nation under a groove’ contains a nutty song (called Promentalshitbackwashpsychosisenemasquad) with the celebration that…

Fried Ice Cream is a reality! :D

Plus the truly inspired lyric:

The fear of being eaten by the sandwich

Brilliant stuff. Laugh out loud music.
