Energy wisdom
« on: May 03, 2008, 09:19:12 AM »
I have just come out of 10 years of unrelenting stress and though there is less stress now that my mother isn't here...

I am exhausted.

I know about diet. I have begun to walk regularly again.
But I can't sleep more than 4 or 5 hours and I'm just drained.

I would be very grateful if people would share their knowledge of supplements that really really make a difference,
with links...

Thanks so much,
Hops

Hi Hops,

Did you look at the links and info on the one that I posted for you ... Pycnogenol ?

Natural Pycnogenol and another natural organic supplement - has given me a new lease of life.

I am amazed, this year, at the amount of energy I have.   I was only talking about this yesterday, to a friend in my community.

I am so glad, happy, relieved, to be healed and restored from Adrenal Stress / Fatique.

Love, Leah

PS..  ((((( Hops )))))  I just don't know how you manage to get through the day on 4 - 5 hours sleep.    Leah x

Dear Hops,

I don't know about that stuff, but I'd recommend cutting out the caffeine from all sources.... and lots of hugs.

((((((((((((((((((((Hops))))))))))))))))))))

I'll be praying that you'll receive the guidance, info, support, and refreshment that you really need.

With bunches of love,

It's Okay, it's not a UK natural herbal supplement.

Both of the natural supplements that I have been taking are from the US !!

Maybe others will have better info.

Meanwhile, I am off out to do some digging in my garden!

Oh, the "that stuff" stuff to which I was referring (when I said that I don't know about that stuff) = natural supplements/treatments in general.

I was not referring to pycnogenol or any other specific remedy, only my own lack of knowledge about herbal therapies.

Hey Hops,

Did you ever think of the flower remedies?  I had taken 7-flower remedy in pill form.  It was very calming and I actually took it for my BP although it was really for trouble sleeping and it actually worked.  It lowered.  The Dr's were amazed although they do not know much about, naturals.

Now my sons Ped, studied in England, and is a big believer in Flower remedies.

So just a thought

Dear Hops,
GS recommended great supplements for adrenal fatigue. I just reordered. They were life saving after Scott died and I was exhausted. They are Future Formulations by Dr James Wilson.
They are as good as "good ole "Superfood(LOL)    Love   Ami

Coming out of the 90's I was extremely stressed out and had a long period of insomnia and fatigue.   I seemed to have a weird rebound about 6 months after getting out of the stressful job.  It actually took me a couple of years to start feeling fairly well and energetic again.     For me, the answers have been improved diet, exercise, elimination of nearly all psychoactive chemicals; caffeine, alcohol, Prozac.   Regular exercise regardless of whether I feel like it or not has been a big help.  Some supplements that seem to make a noticeable short term difference are ginkgo and ginseng.

Supplemental sunshine, fresh air, laughter, and distance from N's can also be a big help... :)

Here's one link to the Adrenal Fatigue supplements Ami mentioned: http://www.adrenalfatigue.org/

and here is another http://www.futureformulations.com/store/wilson-dr-james-l-audio-lectures-adrenal-fatigue-in-children-p10.html

Dr. James L. Wilson wrote a book about adrenal fatigue that I read.  These supplements have made a huge difference for me.  I am also very interested in Leah's suggestion and want to learn more about it.

For me, what has helped is amino acids (L-Glutamine and 5-HTP); and magnesium in a trace minerals formula.

Hmm I take omega-3s - both fish oil caps and also flax seed oil caps.  Also a-lipoic acid, which is an all purpose antioxidant much used by the body.  I also seek out the healthy fats - raw almonds, avocados, olive oil.

But for that really deep stress and fatigue, I have to say that restorative yoga really helped me a lot.  It can really feel like a 12 hour sleep combined with a full body massage.  Your local library may have some tapes and others are available online (Elise Browning Miller is one well-known restorative teacher).  Restorative is essentially relaxing in different recumbent postures, propped by pillow - no pretzel stuff!

Also, there is an exercise called yoga nidra, which means sleep, which is a deep meditative relaxation.  You aren't supposed to sleep, though people do fall asleep trying to do it, but the benefit is very deep stress relief and relaxtion.  You basically just lie there and the CD talks you through progressive muscle relaxation and deeply restorative images.  I have done short ones in class, but CDs are available online to do it at home.

I have a friend who swears by the flower remedies.  She is HSP (highly sensitive) and finds them very supportive for anxiety and overexposure to stimulation or change.

Thank you, everyone, SO very much for these suggestions.
I am going to take a good look at every one of them and do more reading and order what I can.

Supplements are pricy but worth it when they help.

Thank you a LOT...and more ideas welcome here about supplements people take and trust that have really changed their lives.

Iphi,

Do you know my sister? (lol) you and her think the same.  She passes on all these things to me which I have no clue about but learning.  I'm really starting to go her way, slowly, but I do feel better and I took Marine Fish Oil, with Vitamin E made by monks.
Again from my sister. And these things really worked for me. As a matter of fact I need more.

Now she just bought me a Cd for meditation, I'm a newbie, on these things.  Meditation for beginners, by jack kornfield.  Haven't tried it yet, and thank you for reminding me.

So we shall see. It says it is simple to start and stick with. I had forgot I had it.

Going to start tommorrow or Monday when I have quiet time, hard to meditate with one eye open hearing , ma, mom, ma, Ma, mom (lol).

Love
Deb

Another recommendation...   dirt under fingernails seems to be a great supplement for me. Maybe it's loaded with worm oil... I dunno... lol  8)

Anyhow, I can feel dawg tired and utterly drained, but if I push myself to go outdoors and putter in the soil a bit, all else is soon forgotten.
Might be exhausted again by the end of the day, but sleep is sound and refreshing!

((((((((((Hops))))))))))) I hope you had a good day... was gorgeous here and I thought of you.

Love,
Carolyn
