Chiropractor thinks dizziness due to pressure on the spinal cord, but I don't know.

An ENT, one town over, allowed me to make an appointment for the 25th.  I'll get my ears cleaned and see what he thinks.

I can ask retired nurse neighbor to get me appt at her son's PT office if they do Vertigo work.

I'm sick of myself being sick of being nauseous, walking funny, sighing all the time and/or holding my  breath.

(((((((((Lighter))))))))))))  I don't know how your medical systems work over there, but is there a doctor you can see for a general assessment, who can check the basics for you?  I only ask as over here, specialists only know the bit they specialise in.  So they don't necessarily pick up on anything that falls outside their remit, meaning things can be missed.  We've had some fairly basic things missed over the years, so wondered if it might be something useful.  Appreciate doctors might be very busy at the moment.

I also wondered if anti-sickness acupressure bands might help?  I use them for motion sickness so don't know if they'd work for the sort of sickness you're getting (or even if you could get hold of any due to delivery issues and general infrastructure problems) but they're basically sweat bands with plastic disks sewn into them that you wear at a specific spot on your wrist and the pressure on that point helps to quell the sickness feeling.

Also saw on the NHS website (sorry, am worried about you so had a look to see if any self help suggestions!) and they recommend sleeping with your head raised (ie on two firm pillows) sometimes helps.  Just wondered if it might be something that might alleviate the symptoms.  Sorry if already tried - personally I know how annoying it is when people suggest lists of things that I've already done - but equally know that when I'm in a very stressful and demanding situation I don't always get the head space to cast around a bit for things that might help.

https://www.purpleturtle.co.uk/product-category/travel-health-and-hygiene/travel-sickness/travel-sickness-bands/

Those are the bands I use.  Could get some and post them out to you if that's any help?  Although no idea what it would be like getting things to you just now?  Anyway - whatever the current situation, hope things start to ease off a bit soon xx

Lighter - periodically, some people develop a collection of crystals in the middle ear. You can clear this yourself by laying on your back on a bed and slide your head off the edge so it hangs down backwards - comfortably. Lay there for about 3 minutes. If you can also slide back up, and sit up then tilt your head sideways to each shoulder & hold it a minute. I had that happen, and a friend who is a PT recommended this.

But if this is constant & recurring a lot, then other possibilities need to be checked out. I can see a cervical nerve pinch might cause this kind of dizziness - which could be tension, but even tight muscles in the neck & shoulders relax with that head drop move. I can still hear the "inner tai chi teacher" say, feel a string pull up your head from down your spine, drop your shoulders... don't stick your butt out at me!"  LOLOL.

Aww, Lighter, I am really sorry your balance is giving you fits right now. Sure would help to have a clear diagnosis. I can't imagine how much stress you are carrying by now, and don't know if vertigo is a symptom or what.

I sometimes find the lists of questions and answers the most helpful:

I'm putting on my good-witch hat and hoping it eases very soon.

Your genuine concern is touching, dear ones.  I woke up wobbly, but no longer nauseous, thank God.  From there, plenty of water then rest had me feeling almost normal.  There's a walking askew or falling sideways, regular, but manageable.  No spinning.,..just a fuzzy brain/body connection.

My brother brought up blood pressure and that sent me straight to CVS where they didn't have a machine.

Pharmacist suggested uneven pressure in ears could cause vertigo.  I've certainly had allergies and snorfully nose, but ....I bought a $45 bp cuff and we t home to scare the b jeezus out of myself.  Always had normal BP.....First check was 54 over 85....second shot up, bc.....holy cow.  Hypertension, second stage.

If it's a combination of things, it certainly involves BP.  Will see if my GP found some where to practice.  Her office was in a destroyed area near the river.

I'm meditating my arse off,  back on vit D, B12, Hawthorne supplement and, most of all,  taking things very gently.....staying hydrated.....leaving salt alone.

How are you guys dealing with BP issues?

ENT appt next week.

No experience of BP issues, Lighter, but your self care regime sounds like it would benefit pretty much any situation so I say thumbs up to that.  Hope you can see GP for proper check sooner rather than later - am aware that anxiety associated with medical issues can cause blood pressure readings to shoot up (called White Coat Syndrome here).  So hoping a proper medical assessment will be useful.  As far as I know, blood pressure issues are relatively straight forward to treat in most cases so hopefully whatever is going on getting on top of it will be manageable.  Crossing fingers that everything starts to get a bit easier soon xx

From my no-sugar-at-all-ever stance I've moved to a tsp or two of local honey in my tea mornings. And the other night I was feeling like a dish drainer and a glass of kefir with maple syrup is as heavenly as I remembered.

Seems I need a little glucose boost daily to keep it more stable, and these seem to be helping. I'll never forget the BP 60/40 day I was banished from the gym, because before that I just thought it was "my normal." As I get older, can be dangerous.

I don't know whether magnesium glycinate affects low BP, but it's helping a lot anyway. The RLS (acute restless legs syndrome for decades, which I always blamed on the back injury) has nearly vanished to a large degree. A shocking change that came on fast.

Let us know how your BP is doing and never forget to drink a tall glass of water every two hours at a minimum, or every hour if you can keep it up.

Couple things with BP readings. It's gonna take the machine a couple times before it calibrates to you. It may also read differently than any other machine... so think more of a range with those numbers. It is usually recommended to take readings in the morning, just after waking up BEFORE coffee, for the best accuracy.

Lots of things can affect BP, including anxiety, kidney issues, and just normal stress. Physical work and exercise are often enough to balance out anxiety & stress. Diet and hydration can help some kidney issues. Make sure you're getting enough electrolytes. I have a homemade "elixir" recipe for rehydration drink, if ya want it. Even tastes decent!

You've been pushing the bar upwards for a few years now, with your rentals. You're still actively mothering a good bit. And now the impacts of the storm all around you... you might consider some peaceful "me time" retreat or vacation time at the island to relax, recharge, refresh your energy. Quiet time, not a lot of people.

I take that elixir recipe, Amber and I've blocked off some island time ....only winter months for me, thanks.  The BP cuff is all over the place.....always high.  Showing normal readings for DD22, however.

Hops, I use Monk Fruit sweetener, mostly, but it's been a sad chapter for prescriptive eating.  Not gonna lie.

Tupp..... I need to be more active. DD22 thinking about committing to martial arts time with me.  That would make my heart so happy to pass along what I consider necessary skills.  Will see about those bands....I was a puky carsick kid.  Nice to skip the anti nausea meds when necessary.

Thanks for all the input, guys.

Hol has a pretty useful mantra - this time a set of questions she asks herself - when it feels like everything is sprialing out of control.

Is anything on fire? (no = don't jump into action)
Is anyone deathly ill? (no = they can take care of themselves; I don't have to take care of them)
Am I being chased by something that will eat me? (no = no reality based urgent threats)

I am FINE; just FINE.

LOLOLOL. Sometimes silliness & laughter is a good antidote.

Sounds like you've got a range of things to try that might help, Lighter, hopefully it's relatively straightforward to get under control and will be one less problem to manage xx

Who's booking Trump gigs??  He flew into a disaster area, shut down a major highway and at least one major road in a high traffic area.....shell shocked people couldn't get to work, doc appts or supply runs.....to vote.

It felt like having a hammer dropped on what small normalcy we'd recovered.

And who thought he should pull a french fry medal out his pocket while standing in front of bombed out homes?  Who?

I had 2 spinny episodes today.  One while trying to focus eyes as I took a big breath.

The other when I was on my back to take pressure off lower back.  All was fine till I lifted my knees.

Very odd...made me very nauseous.  The bands should arrive Saturday, Tupp.

ENT appt Friday.

Looking for Dizzy Clinic referral.

The journey continues.

Cervical vertigo.  The stretching....what a very odd thing....it might be my neck.  Yawning and tensing made things spinny this morning.  Have to track down my retired chiro buddy.  I think he's still at the lake.
